Happy Dog is proud to announce that Kelsey Kirkpatrick will be joining our great team of instructors starting August 5th ! Kelsey is moving to California from Texas. She is an experienced and positive agility trainer that runs 2 border collies (Ace and Legit). She will be teaching a weave and contacts class as well as a few beginning level classes. Feel free to introduce yourself and say hello when you see her.
Weaves class will be held on Mondays at 7:15pm starting August 5th.
Contacts class will be held on Tuesdays at 7:15pm starting August 6th.
(Class times and start date are subject to change)
If your dog is struggling with successful independent weaves, the weave class is for you. This class is for novice level dogs. An advanced weave class will be offered in the near future. If your dog needs more training on the contacts, sign up for the contacts class. The great thing about the weave and contacts class is having the ability to focus on one area your dog needs to improve. To enroll in either of the classes, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mia Grant will soon begin teaching 2 classes on Thursday evenings (6pm and 7pm). Exact start date has not been determined. These classes are expected to fill quickly, so if you are interested in attending one of the classes email me as soon as possible. I need your name, dogs name and current level in competition. Classes are for advanced and master level students. Class fees are $25 per class. Email me at email@example.com to get a spot in the class.
Mark your calendar for our next Show N Go’s:
Sunday July 28, 2013
Sunday August 4, 2013
Sunday August 18, 2013
Cost is $20 for 1st dog and $10 per each additional dog. Check-in starts at 8:00am and first dog on the line at 9:00am. There will be 2 standard runs and 2 jumpers runs. As soon as we receive the new tunnels we ordered, we will be able to offer tunnelers. This is a great opportunity to come work with your dog.
We have made great progress with our equipment, but we are still in need of more jumps and other equipment. Supporting the Show N Go’s is the best way to show your support of Happy Dog. Please attend the Show N Go’s and tell your agility friends about them.
I will soon be selling off some of our old metal jumps. If you are interested in purchasing a jump, let me know. The wingless jumps are selling for $30 and the winged jumps are selling for $35. Email me if you are interested in purchasing jumps.
Happy Dog Agility has made some great improvements recently. I’d like to thank the following people for their help with the installation of the new fence and canopies:
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to help improve Happy Dog!
USDAA recently announced that the 2014 Cynosport will be held in Morgan Hill CA. We are excited that the national event will be coming to California. The qualification time period begins on Saturday September 7th. Happy Dog will be hosting our 1st trial for the new qualification period on Saturday September 21st and Sunday September 22nd. Watch for the premium to be available soon.
USDAA is in the process of making some changes to the regulations which include some jump height changes. Announcements regarding the changes are expected soon and we anticipate there will be additional jump heights available.
Our own instructor Teri Thompson will be taking over as trial secretary for the Happy Dog Agility events starting in September. Watch for announcements regarding our upcoming trials.
I’d like to thank Lisa Dewey for all her hard work in handling our past trials.
Reminder: Class fees for the month are due at the beginning of the month for the entire month. Class fees are not paid week by week when you are able to attend.
As many of you are aware, we have green poop bags located at most of the gates or poop stations. Please use the poop bags whenever possible. Emptying the trash cans is a dirty job and having the poop in poop bags reduces the stinky smell. Thanks to Jackie for taking on the trash duty for so many years…..I certainly wouldn’t want that responsibility. When you bag the poop, you are making her job (which she volunteers to do), much more bearable.
I am working on scheduling a fall seminar with Cindy DiFranco. I attended her seminar several years and highly recommend it. If you want to be on the interest list for the seminar, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I will keep you posted as we try to determine a date that will work. The seminar will most likely be held in the Thousand Oaks area. Click here for more information regarding the seminar and Cindy.
